See you all at the next
meeting, Thursday, July 10th!
6:30 dinner, 7pm meeting.
Meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of each month and start at 7:00 pm at the Stanley Draper Lake Concession in Oklahoma City Oklahoma.
The
Oklahoma Dirt Riders club was founded in 1979 to promote responsible off-road
motorcycling. The club, also known as the Okie Dirt Riders, meets monthly
mixing the work of event promotion, riding area preservation and protection,
with fellowship and usually a good meal. Based in the
Oklahoma City area, ODR is a diverse group of motorcycle and ATV riders and
racers.
ODR monitors legislative action and environmental issues to keep members up to
date with federal, state, and local activity in addition to information provided
by the American Motorcyclist
Association (AMA) and the National Off-Highway Vehicle conservation Council
(NOHVCC).
ODR hosted National Enduros in 1983 and 1986 and has hosted annual enduros since
1979. Annual cross country races are hosted by the club as well as
numerous scheduled trail ride/camp out events including an annual trip to
Colorado.
The reason there is more motorcycle trail is because most of the work to build these trails was done by motorcycle riders. If you want more ATV trails then we will need help from the ATV riders. The motorcycle riders are more interested in motorcycle trails and that is what they will build. We have only used 1/2 of the land designated for ORV trails. All trail work is done by volunteers. The next trail could take as long as 2 years to build depending on how much help we get. If you have any questions call 405-634-8400 and ask for Denny.
Our riding area (map) is at Lake Stanley Draper in SE Oklahoma City (old
area photos). We work
closely with the Crosstimbers Rider's Association, the city of Oklahoma City and
the Oklahoma City Water and Utilities Trust to keep a riding area open.
The city has designated some land at the south end of the lake (adjacent to the
current West Elm Creek riding area) for off-road riding. We currently have
about 36
miles (MAP). We have some trail wide enough for
4-wheelers (MAP) and some designated as single track. The trail is pretty smooth
with a mixture of hardpack and sand. There is grass track, a small
motocross track and a short "woods" loop around the motocross track
for the kids. View pics of the parking area.
Riding Hours That are Currently in effect (click me):
Closing Times are indicative of when all vehicles need to be out of the parking area, not tying down bikes, etc. Hours are tentative, subject to change & weather dependent.
Don't want to drive out and find the trails closed (rain, fire danger, etc)? Call the Crosstimbers Trail Status Message Phone Line: 405.945.1938 and click this Weather or location Map link.
